FAQ

  • How do we start
To get started from scratch you can join one of our taster sessions, details are on the Courses page. To get you started as a member and begin learning archery, we require all new members to complete a beginners course. You will learn the basics of Archery, range safety, using a bow, storing and taking down a recurve bow as well. Please email us or us the contact us form for more details on availability.
  • When can we shoot
24/7 - 365 days a year at our outdoor range located on New Road in Whittlesey. Indoor shooting is available in the winter months at Whittlesey Bowls Club, location on the Contact Us page. Shooting in the field requires 2 adults for safety reasons. If you wish to shoot on your own, you must be a member with us and have sign off from our coaching team that you are proficient in archery safety. You must also have your own personal insurance and provide a copy of this to the club.
  • How old do you have to be to shoot?
There is no specific age requirement, it is all unique to the persons ability to pull a bow. Please get in touch regarding this query by email for more information.
  • I want to join, but I don't have my own equipment
Not a problem. Once you have finished a beginner course and have joined us, you will get access to club equipment to use until you are happy to get your own bow. The club has a variety of different sized / poundage recurve bows, with arrows, available for members to use and try until the time you are ready to make your purchase on a bow that is made for you.
  • Why are there yearly and monthly fees?
Year Fees; The yearly fees are to pay for the Archery GB membership and the local county fees for the club. There is a fee per person to be part of the larger organisations within the regulations of Archery. Each member will receive an Archery GB membership card every year, along with updates from Archery GB throughout the year and either a physical or digital Archery newsletter / magazine periodically*. Monthly Fees; Target fees are charged by the club in order to keep the club sustained. As all members have access to the range at any time, you will be using club facilities and club targets. These will need to be replaced over time along with the boss ( target wooden frame ) which are all maintained by members and coaching staff using these monthly fees. The monthly fees also go towards repairs for club equipment which all members are available to use at any time. *Actual content may vary, this is controlled by AGB.
